Travel The World:  The Ultimate Entrepreneur Lifestyle

Most people start out in business because they want to improve their lifestyle.  But often, they wind up working so hard that they don't live the lifestyle they want.  I've been there and done that and it isn't very smart.  You wind up having very little spare time to enjoy your life.  In fact your business becomes your life.  Plus your life that you're not even enjoying costs you way to much, because you don't have time to do lots of everyday things, like cook your own meals.

In The Four Hour Work Week, Tim Ferris made thousands of people aware of the fact, that is possible to achieve the lifestyle you want to lead before you retire.  As Tim explains, often the lifestyle you want will cost far less than you imagined.  He recommends either cutting down the hours you work, so you have more free time, or taking mini-retirements.  And he suggests doing this by creating an automated business.

I like Tim's ideas.  However, I think there's many ways of achieving the ultimate lifestyle.  Also, mini-retirements are not for everyone.  Some people just want to work fewer hours and live in another part of the world.  And others want to travel the world while they work.  While some are happy living where they are, they'd just like to avoid the long commute to work each day.

What about you?  What's your idea of the perfect lifestyle, if you could live whatever way you want?  If you're not completely sure what you want to do, never mind how you're going to achieve it, check out some of the ideas below.

Travel While You Work:  This lifestyle often suits singles or couple best, unless you want your kids to be changing schools every few weeks.  But the Internet enables many different types of people to live this lifestyle.  What is your current job?  Could you do this freelance, or even set up in business on your own?  You'd be surprised how many careers are travel friendly.  For example, in the article, Sterling explains how he travels with his partner, who is still able to enjoy a successful career as a lawyer on the move.

Automate Everything So You're Free To Do What You Want:  If you do things the Tim Ferris way, you could set up an online business and automate it, so you're able to take mini-retirements and travel, or work fewer hours.  This is a lot like setting up a business with employees which will eventually run without you.  And Tim does explain that it takes a lot of hard work.  I think many people underestimate the amount of work it will take.

I'm not saying it's impossible to achieve a good income this way.  But the only flaw that I find in this idea is that Tim recommends driving traffic to these sites with Google Adwords.  If you've ever ran a Google Adwords campaign before you'll know that they actually take quite a bit of monitoring.  You can't really just set them up and leave them.  I have a couple of sites that I did set up and leave.  They may not make as much money as one of Tim's muse sites, but I plan to add more, as they do achieve a reasonable and consistent amount of cash each month without having to do anything with them, aside from pay for webhosting and domain name renewal.  And a handful of these sites really could bring you a nice stream of additional income without you having to lift a finger ever.

Move To An Area Where You'd Really Love To Live:  Do you enjoy living where you are.  Or would you really prefer to live in a sunnier climate, or in a nice place in the country?  Why wait until you retire, when this is perfectly achievable now?
